Run paid games with Crit Fails

Run paid D&D campaigns under the Crit Fails banner. We advertise your games, help fill your table, train you, and take a smaller cut than the marketplaces.

The hard part of being a paid Dungeon Master is not running the game. It is finding players. Most DMs who quit paid work quit because they spent more hours posting in LFG channels than they spent at the table, and the tables kept half-filling.

That is the specific thing we take off you. We advertise your games across the places players actually look, we run a community those players are already inside, and we point them at your table. You concentrate on the campaign.

In exchange you run to our standard, because the reason players trust a Crit Fails table is that they are all held to one. That means player-focused games built around the stories your players want to tell, a real session zero, backstories that matter, and the reliability to show up at the same time every week for years. If you are not there yet, that is what the training is for — a lot of our DMs were not when they started.

What we provide

How to apply

Join the Discord and message a moderator or admin, or send us an email. Tell us what you run, how long you have been running it, and what a session at your table is like. We will talk, and if it looks like a fit we will watch you run before anything goes on the site.

You do not need to be a veteran. We have taken on DMs who had never charged for a game. What we will not compromise on is the standard the players are promised, so the training comes before the paid table, not after it.

Common questions

What do you take?

A smaller cut than the major marketplaces charge. We will give you the exact number before you agree to anything — ask in the Discord.

Do I have to use Foundry VTT?

Most of our tables do, and we will train you on it, but DMs here also run on Discord alone, Owlbear Rodeo, Roll20 and Avrae. What matters is that the players get the production standard they were promised.

Can I keep running my own games elsewhere?

Yes. Running with us is not exclusive. Just do not promise a Crit Fails standard somewhere we are not able to stand behind it.

I have never been paid to DM. Should I apply?

Yes, if you are willing to be trained. Several of our DMs started here. Join Crit Fails Academy first if you want to arrive further along.
